This Molasses Brown Soda Bread is a delicious twist on traditional soda bread.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the molasses and buttermilk to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently for about 1 minute.
  5. Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking sheet.
  6. Cut a deep cross in the top of the dough and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes
